list seventeen: my soundtrack

 {wow. yep. that's me.}
I'm one of those folks who likes to live life as though I have an accompanying soundtrack. Here's a few sitches and songs to go along with them. Diversity is the name of the game, people.

1. Cruising in my car on a sunny summer day, when I'm feeling a bit feisty: Heart - Magic Man

2. Riding shotgun in the Mini: Daft Punk - Robot Rock
(p.s. This video? That's the '07 Keyspan Park NYC show, where I celebrated my 29th b-day. You can be jealous now.)

3. Working, working, working: Ambulance LTD - Anecdote

4.  When needing motivation for leaning, painting, or general tidying up: The Go! Team - Huddle Formation

5. Stoking the fire tentside, camping: Grateful Dead - Eyes of the World

6. The getting-ready-to-go-out-with-my-troublemaker-sister song: Bloc Party - Banquet (phones disco rmx)

7. Beach party, USA: Bob Marley - Rastaman Vibration

8. Always my #1 jukebox pick: Stevie Wonder - Superstition

9. When dancing with my love in the kitchen: Glenn Miller - Moonlight Serenade

10. Singing at the top of my lungs: Bruce Springsteen  - Thunder Road

11. When I gon' feeshin: Kenny Chesney - I Go Back

12. Nothing is better for sewing Elizabethan garb: Steeleye Span - Cam Ye O'er Frae France

13. Road trips require hip hop: Common - The People
(Nearly impossible for me to pick just one, so I went with a favie of mine. "While white folk focus on dogs and yoga..." Gets me every time lol)

14. Nostalgia circa 1997, Classic Drum & Bass edition: AK1200 - Drowning

15. Back porch sitting with a cold one: Santana - Samba Pa Ti

16. New song I have to listen to at least once a day: The National - Bloodbuzz Ohio

There's 84 bajillion more songs I could've chosen, but here's the first list. Soundtrack #1 coming at you with some brand new flavor for your ears.

Put the Needle on the Record

So, the other day, I found myself in Best Buy with Bubs. He was looking for something ('something' is code for total geekfest EQII expansion, not that I would know anything about MMORPGs or anything...ahem.)

Anyway, back to my moment of duh.

We're casually cruising down the aisles on the way back to the front of the store and I see in my periphery two young 20somethings. I blurt out to Bubs (not very quietly, I may add),"Wow. Seriously? Who comes all the way to Best Buy for a calendar?"

Only to have my darling husband then point out,"Those aren't calendars. They're records."

Fail.

P.S. Am I the only one who didn't know that Best Buy is selling vinyl? Sure, it's ridiculously overpriced, but still. They're records. At Best Buy. And that I was not expecting. I'll turn in my cool kid card at the door, thanks.

Guilty Pleasures 80s Remix: Happy Weekend!

This mix came from my old friend Jack (aka DJ Mister Shifter) -- and I had to share it. Who doesn't love a little 80s remix now and again? Pure self-indulgence and loving every synthesized minute. This is definitely going to help me enjoy my snowy Ohio weekend!

Click here + pump up the volume.

{p.s. How is Neneh Cherry's Buffalo Stance 22 years old? Seriously.}

Cutest. Caroling. Ever.

This was in Nuremberg, outside the church in the market square. It was really cold, as you can hear by the muffled gloved-hand claps at the end of the video. These kids were the cutest darn thing I think I saw all trip :)

A Little Bing This Christmas

I love Bing Crosby almost second to none nearly all the time, but at Christmas, his songs are magic. Here's to all your favorite holiday traditions, whether it's egg nog, laughter, singing, kissing under the mistletoe, gingerbread or snowy white Christmases. xo

P.S. I'll keep an eye out for Santa on my flight home tonight :)

I heart Meg (AKA Go go Team Practical)

Now there are some pretty sassy, amazing, lovely, fantastic people out there in the world, but I can't lie. As far as complete strangers who I would befriend in a heartbeat go, Meg is at the top of the list. She is really effing cool. Not only is her blog A Practical Wedding completely and utterly all about what it's really all about (and I *highly* recommend every bride-to-be to go over there for a healthy dose of reality), Meg likes really cool stuff. Like. Really. Cool. Stuff.

Like an old school hip hop beat? Can you get down to some 80s pop dance tunage? Yeah. Me, too. Read her post from yesterday. It's FTW.

Turn up the sound and get you're groove on. It IS Friday, after all!
