Nice Threads

Working fabric into the details of our wedding seems like an obvious choice, given how much I love to sew and how influential my mom, step-dad, (late) grandmother and mother-in-law have been on my sewing. D.'s my biggest cheerleader, too -- even going so far as to haul home from an auction a vintage dress form in the back of a Mini Cooper. That's love, folks!

How to work in fabric and have it still look chic and tailored is my biggest challenge, I think. I love mixing texture and pattern, but don't want it too look too haphazard or crafty in my doing. The goal is to add in a bit of whimsy and artistic flair to a wedding leaning towards the more classic, borderline vintage end of the wedding spectrum.

Here are a few of the many beautiful examples of how to use fabric in your wedding. Everything from invitations and programs to super clever photography backdrops to flowers. Can't wait to give some of these projects a try myself! I'm all over Jennifer Behr's Wedding Collection - who wouldn't love to wear that birdcage veil down the aisle? This one is shown in leather. Who knew leather could be so feminine.
